Privacy Policy
Version 2026-08-06a
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains what Folktales collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Folktales is operated by Isaacs Cloud LLC, an Iowa limited liability company.
Mailing address:
Isaacs Cloud LLC

Davenport, IA 52804
United States
Privacy contact: help@folktales.io
If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the Service.
2. Information we collect
Account data: email, password (handled by our auth provider), display name, username, and profile details you choose to add (bio, avatar, genres, vibes, pronouns, location label, beta preferences, influences, invite attribution).
Content you create: works, drafts, series, forums, threads, replies, feedback, prompt submissions, reports, bug reports, messages, and similar community content.
Technical data: basic device and session information needed to run the app, IP address and security logs as processed by our providers, push notification tokens if you enable them, and approximate last-seen time for online status.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive government ID numbers, precise geolocation beyond what you voluntarily put in a profile label, or payment card data through Folktales at this time (the Service is free during early beta).
3. How we use information
We use your information to:
• Authenticate you and operate Folktales
• Show profiles, works, Match, forums, and messages
• Attribute invites, send welcome and admin messages, and handle reports and bans
• Secure the Service, prevent abuse and fraud, and debug issues
• Improve the product and understand aggregate usage
• Comply with law and enforce our Terms
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your private drafts to train third-party generative AI models.
4. What is public
Public profile fields, published public works, public forums, threads, and replies can be seen by other members and, for some pages, by visitors and search engines.
Private works and your private bio are meant only for you (and systems needed to store them). Do not assume absolute secrecy online; protect drafts you are not ready to share by keeping them private.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only as needed to run Folktales:
• Service providers that host the app, database, auth, email delivery, and related infrastructure (currently including Supabase and our web host). They process data under contracts and only as needed to provide those services.
• Other members, when you choose to make content public or send messages/feedback.
• Legal and safety: if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users or the Service.
• Business transfers: if Isaacs Cloud LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer to a successor subject to this Policy or equivalent protections.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Retention and deletion
You can delete your account from Settings. That removes your profile and content tied to it as described in the product. Some records (for example ban or report history, security logs, or legal holds) may be retained when needed for safety, abuse prevention, or legal compliance.
If you need help with deletion or access requests, email help@folktales.io.
7. Security
We use organizational and technical measures appropriate to an early-stage community product, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls via our providers. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. You use the Service at your own risk regarding residual security risk.
8. Children
Folktales is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact help@folktales.io and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or to appeal a denial of a privacy request.
Iowa residents: where the Iowa Consumer Data Protection Act (ICDPA) applies to us, you may have rights to confirm whether we process your personal data, access it, correct inaccuracies, delete it, and obtain a portable copy, subject to legal exceptions. You may appeal our decision on a request by replying to our response or emailing help@folktales.io with subject "Privacy appeal."
To make a privacy request, email help@folktales.io. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling the request.
You may also have rights under other U.S. state laws or international laws that apply to you. We will honor requests as required by applicable law.
10. International users
Folktales is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
11. Changes
If we update this Privacy Policy, we will bump the version and ask signed-in members to review and accept it when required. The "version" shown with the Policy is the effective version identifier.
